My YouTube Obsession is Paying Off
I've previously mentioned that even though my YouTube channel has 1B+ views and 3.6M subscribers, I'm 'bad' at YouTube. All those views and subscribers have largely come from my short clips, meaning that there isn't an eager audience guaranteeing views on my long form videos.
But if you've been following my posts, you know that I recently cracked the code:
Part of me being 'bad' at YouTube is that with all the impressive numbers, I've never really dabbled in YouTube sponsorships - which I'm sure you know is a big part of the platform and income as a creator.
The Next Step
With proof that I have a great, repeatable formula that can pull in 100k+ targeted views (filmmakers, editors, artists), I contacted a bunch of my favorite production services and pitched them the opportunity to sponsor my videos.
I specifically stuck to production services so that the ad segment can integrate well into my videos. (I'll get into how I pitched in a later post.)
And wouldn't you know it? A service that I use for every one of my videos was happy to jump at the opportunity. The end result is that they'll sponsor three videos across June, July, and August - making my entire summer.
✨ So keep going. It's taken me nearly a decade of experimenting to finally feel like I've figured out YouTube.
Speaking of Pitching to Clients
I've been recommending that people read Justin Moore's book Sponsor Magnet.
It offers great insight into the world of brand partnerships and has a lengthy section on cold pitching to clients - I actually utilized some of the strategies for my outreach on these YouTube sponsorships.
(Justin's not sponsoring this. I bought, read, and recommend the book!)
