My 2024 YouTube Revenue Breakdown

Mar 27, 2025

Mar 27, 2025

In my quest to shine a light on being an artist making a living on social media, I thought I'd pull back the curtain on my YouTube revenue.

My 2024 on YouTube

  • My revenue = $30,000.67 USD - 10% to agency x 1.37 exchange rate = ~$37,000.00 CAD (I live in Canada)

  • Daily average of $82.00 USD or $112.00 CAD

  • January has notoriously low ad rates

  • December typically brings a holiday spike

  • 319.9M views = 6.1M video views + 313.8M Shorts views (much lower ad rates)

The Power of Evergreen Videos

  • Out of the top nine highest earning videos of 2024, only one was posted in 2024

  • Two of the videos are from 2018/19

  • The highest earning video is an ad for Thomas & Friends (that I was paid to create)

Conclusion

I've come to think of my YouTube revenue as the income stream that covers the expenses for my business (my primary income source is brand deals and hired video production).

Editing software, online services, and materials for videos all add up each month. YouTube isn't making me rich, but it keeps my business humming along (with some extra to provide for the family).

My insight to artists is that no single YouTube video has financially changed my life, but years of posting has created an army of videos that continue to passively bring in revenue.
