The Product Anyone Can Sell

When I was working with Studio to develop my Scroll-Stopping Shorts course, they put a huge emphasis on showing my unique process - how I personally approach crafting concepts and editing videos.

The experience completely changed my opinion on what it means to offer online classes and digital products.

I used to think being an expert on the internet meant providing the answer for 2+2, when it actually means showing how to arrive at the number 4. There are infinite ways - especially in creative fields where the 'equation' isn't always so clear.

I think that's fairly liberating! The value isn't in the answer but the unique way you get there, backed by your life experience and years of honing your process.

Top 5 Things

I've been suggesting this to a lot of people over the past year: launch a class or video based on the top 5 tools or techniques you use in your area of expertise.

Mine would be my Top 5 Editing Techniques: filming invisible edits, green screen, advanced masking, Rotobrush, and Composite Brush.

You're a painter? Try the top 5 base colors on your palette or most-used brushes.
A chef? Your top 5 kitchen skills or tools you can't work without.
A salesperson? Your top 5 cold opens or best negotiation tactics.

Distribution

I'd simply record everything as an extended video and list it for a reasonable price in a shop like Lemon Squeezy or Fourthwall (integrates into YouTube Product Shelf).

Promoting it becomes easy. Make a Short or YouTube video listing your top 5 things (but not getting into too much detail), and point people to the full version in your digital product.

As a bonus, those short videos act as a fantastic lead magnet for attracting the right audience.

The best part? You can always sell 5 More Things as a follow-up product.

Conclusion

How you uniquely do what you do is valuable! Especially in more artistic-leaning fields where technique is more subjective and personal.

You don't need a massive following or years of credentials to start monetizing your unique perspective.
