๐Ÿ’ฅ My 2026 Plan to Battle AI

This week's creative output: simplification.

๐Ÿชž Reflecting on 2025

Looking back on 2025 (and even 2024), things got experimental:

Like all artists, my interests and inspirations change over time. I equally challenge myself and get distracted with shiny object syndrome.

There's space for some of that, but when your entire business is built upon your ability to be consistently creative and draw a crowd, it can become detrimental to stray too far from the path.

I'm proud of everything I've made, but I'm feeling the pull to be less experimental and focus on what I'm uniquely good at.

๐Ÿ’ฅ The Plan for 2026

As the internet gets flooded with AI slop, my instincts are telling me that being moderately talented isn't enough to stand out. Being an exceptionally talented human is a strong narrative in 2026.

In my case, that means tightening up my story with more consistency and less experimentation.

What I'm exceptionally good at is frustratingly clean edits. The kind of cuts that you know are there but can't find any visual evidence to prove it.

So this year, I'm going to double/triple down on that type of video. I want to battle for the crown of 'magical editing guy'.

Here are some guidelines I've given myself:

  • Every week, make a new editing trick (and behind-the-scenes)

  • No speaking allowed. Language creates an unnecessary barrier

  • Empty week? Make a bigger video. Busy week? Keep it simple (quick POV edit)

โœ๏ธ This Newsletter

I want a bit more time to provide value with reflection and observation (rather than purely sharing what I've made), so I'm going to send out my newsletter every two weeks from now on.
