A Funny Thing Happened Reposting Old Videos
This week's creative output: reminding the world what you can create.
After realizing it's been 10 years since posting the video that kicked off my social media career (when your stupid wizard parents force you to make the bed), I put together a compilation featuring my best video from each year over the past decade.
The reception has been incredible! Lots of heartwarming comments of support and encouragement - thank you.
But! Something interesting happened:

I've long suspected that a lot of people have seen my videos but don't know who I am or where to follow me (the 'trick' is the star). And given that over 55k people have liked a comment pointing this out, it can all but be confirmed.
So what does that mean?
Remind people what you can do
After TEN YEARS, a lot of people are finally catching on to what I'm capable of creating. This compilation has brought in hundreds of thousands of subscribers within a few days. I'm guessing a lot of those people have liked my work over the years, but finally thought, "Worth a follow, this guy's creative."
It's taken me a while to ditch the portfolio mentality of 2010's social media, where you were often defined by your latest post. I've fully embraced the power of reposting old work to constantly remind the internet of my hirable skillset.
This should have a huge benefit to my business. Given that I'm a one-man production company (and make very little income from platform revenue), views and shares translate to hopefully being seen by people who will hire me. And if those people better understand the entire scope of what I can do, all the better.
So cheers to 10 years and don't forget to remind the world of what you can create (even if it's a decade old)!
