Back to Basics as a Creator

First up: I'm super proud to have spoken at TEDx New River this week! It was terrifying but I managed to hold it together and make it through the entire talk smoothly. I'll share the recording when it gets posted.

Back to Basics

When my schedule is busy with work, my business makes sense. I make cool videos, then I get hired to make cool videos.

But when the phone doesn't ring for a few months, things start to unravel. Should I launch a course? A podcast? What controllable revenue streams can I add?

In the downturns, I get shiny object object syndrome.

The result is that I then get so busy doing 'other' things that I stop making cool videos.

Keeping it Simple in 2026

Even though work was fairly plentiful in 2025, I still chased after a few too many shiny objects.

The goal this year is to stay focused and do what I do best: mind-bending effects videos.

Ideally, every week I can explore some new effect and back it up with a behind-the-scenes split screen.

It's already starting to work!

📈 This week's combo has seen impressive view counts: 1M+ views on the effect and 7M+ views on the behind-the-scenes across all platforms.

Not too bad for two days of work. Keeps the exposure up and adds another fun piece to my portfolio.

Even thought I'm trying to 'do less', I'm still enjoying the occasional short live stream.
