How I Pitch to Brands
I spent November working with Sony to produce this magical transition video featuring their products. I thought it'd be fun to show the initial pitch I presented so you can compare it to the final video.
I find that taking pictures of myself is the easiest, most efficient, and clearest way of communicating my ideas. If I can make the idea work like this, then I have a lot of confidence it'll work in video. And it's also really understandable from the client side (need to make sure the business folks 'get' it).
The initial brief was that I'd take Sony products and do magical transitions with them. We landed on four and then I had the idea to add a small extra trick at the end to loop the video back to the start. I wanted things to feel organic so we framed the video as a response to a challenge Sony left in a comment.
We didn't change much going into production. I switched some of the locations and then tightened up the performance on two of the videos. I ended up using both hands for the PlayStation Portal so that my thumbs could 'wipe' the TV and help the transition. I also changed the bobblehead transition from being a dancing ball of paper into a swift twisting action with my arms - I didn't think they way I pitched it would be seamless enough.
